ATTENTION EMPLOYERS: Deadline Approaching for Workplace Safety Compliance

In response to recent events, the government is taking steps to ensure the protection and safety of employees. Whether you work in an office or on a construction site, you have the right to be protected and safe, and it is the responsibility of employers to guarantee this.

The new Occupational Health and Safety Law came into effect in 2023, and employers have been given a final deadline to meet all obligations under this law by May 7, 2025.

If you think you can avoid meeting these legal obligations, we advise against it, as inspectors will strictly monitor whether all employers comply with the new law.

One of the new requirements is that you must insure your employees with an insurance company for commuting to and from work. This also applies to employees who work from home, remotely, or outside the employer’s premises.

The new law also prescribes strict penalties for non-compliance, including fines ranging from one million to one and a half million dinars for employers with a legal entity status who fail to insure employees against workplace injuries and occupational diseases. A fine of 200,000 to 400,000 dinars applies to employers who are entrepreneurs. Directors or other responsible persons in the company, as well as individual employers, will be fined between 30,000 and 150,000 dinars.

In addition to these obligations, employers are specifically required to educate their employees on workplace safety and protection. Special emphasis is placed on employees who work in high-risk jobs. The new law also addresses mandatory medical check-ups for employees in certain positions, with the costs falling on the employer.

Amid these new legal requirements, we are here to guide you through the entire process to ensure the safest possible compliance and to address legal obligations as quickly and efficiently as possible.  Contact us
