The European Payments Council (EPC) has officially approved Serbia’s inclusion in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), expanding the geographical scope of its payment schemes to 41 countries.
With this development, financial institutions in SEPA member states will soon be able to process SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT), SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst), and SEPA Direct Debit (SDD) transactions with Serbian counterparts—once those institutions become compliant with the schemes.
According to the EPC’s implementation timeline, Serbian banks and payment service providers can begin adhering to SEPA standards starting in November 2025. The earliest date for full operational readiness is expected by May 2026, with the precise go-live date to be announced in due course.
Further details, including an updated SEPA map and the revised list of scheme countries, are available on the EPC’s official website.
